Impactful Experiences

Sgt. Katelyn Myers
Mass Communication Specialist (46S)
I joined the United States Army as a Mass Communications Specialist (photo/video journalist) in 2019. I was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany for my first duty station.
I have worked with all the US military branches (minus Space Force). I was promoted to a Non Commission Officer (NCO) in 2023 and am now a veteran going to school full time.
I've had the honor of collaborating with top news network teams and participating in several historical events. Working with high-ranking officials, NATO allies and partnering with amazing people throughout the European Theater has been a humbling journey.
I had the best job in the Army and I am blessed for this chapter in my life.

Operation Allies Welcome/Refuge
OAW/OAR
I participated and documented the evacuation and resettlement of approximately 30,000 Afghans to Germany with the US Air Force following the 2021 Kabul airport attack, which killed over 180 people. The largest non-combatant evacuation in American history helped over 120,000 out of approximately 200,000 Afghans relocate throughout the United States. I document history by setting up up bases with emergency accommodations and publishing my stories and photos worldwide. As a liaison with major news networks, I witnessed everything from newborns (that were born on the plane ride over), uncertain situations to cultural shocks and medical problems during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Memorial Day Ceremony
I had the honor of covering the 2022 Memorial Day Ceremony in Saint-Avold, France.
Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial is an American military war grave cemetery, located just outside Saint-Avold, Moselle, France. Dedicated in 1960, the cemetery contains the largest number of graves of our military dead of World War II in Europe, totaling more than 10,000.
